CenterPoint Energy appointed Frontier Energy to implement the Low-Income Rental Efficiency (LIRE) Program for CenterPoint customers.

Frontier Energy, in partnership with CenterPoint Energy, will work with property owners of income-qualified properties to bring energy efficiency upgrades and weatherization to one-to four-unit rental properties. Upgrades will help renters and property owners’ lower utility gas usage and save money on their energy bills. Through this program, CenterPoint Energy will pay at least half the cost for furnace, boiler, and water heater upgrades, as well as air sealing, attic and wall insulation to name a few.

The program includes:

  • A no-cost energy review along with a report and energy saving recommendations specific to the building.
Renter kits which include high efficiency showerheads, kitchen, and bathroom aerators, window film, window rope caulk, wool dryer balls, and outlet gaskets.
  • Consulting services on energy efficiency projects, state and city funding opportunities, assistance with contractor contact and scheduling.
  • The program allows for the improvement of the current affordable housing CenterPoint territory to improve the livelihoods and communities.
