REDWOOD FALLS, MN, April 17, 2026 – Redwood Valley Elementary School has received a $36,760.60 energy efficiency rebate from Great Plains Natural Gas for upgrades implemented in its new elementary school facility, with support from Frontier Energy.
Representatives from Great Plains Natural Gas, including Jamie Haas, Zach Klabo and Kathy Baerlocher, along with Peter Gephart of Frontier Energy, presented the rebate check to Finance Director Tom Anderson and Redwood Valley Elementary Principal Bobby Elwell.
Frontier Energy supported the project as an energy advisor, helping identify eligible efficiency measures and guiding the school through the rebate application process to maximize available incentives through Minnesota’s Energy Conservation and Optimization (ECO) Program.
The rebate recognizes several energy efficiency upgrades, including pipe insulation, a high-efficiency water heater and three high-efficiency boilers. These improvements are expected to deliver lifetime energy savings of approximately 41,431.9 dekatherms, the equivalent energy use of about 1,391 homes.
“It is critical that we are financially responsible with the public’s money,” Anderson said. “Utilizing these rebate programs provides additional financial resources for our schools while lowering our utility bills through energy-efficient equipment. We would like to thank Peter Gephart and Great Plains Natural Gas for their partnership in getting this done.”
Through partnerships with utilities and communities, Frontier Energy helps organizations identify cost-effective energy solutions, connect with available incentive programs and reduce long-term operating costs.
Great Plains Natural Gas provides rebates and incentives to Minnesota customers who implement energy-saving measures through its Energy Conservation and Optimization (ECO) Program. The program is designed to help customers reduce energy use, lower costs and improve system efficiency.
Commercial customers who install qualifying high-efficiency natural gas equipment may be eligible for rebates. Programs are approved annually and are in effect from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026.
